Dolan Memory Care is one of the region’s premiere residential facilities specifically designed to meet the needs of residents affected with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia-related disorders. Bond Architects partnered with Dolan Care Centers to create a new clubhouse for residents and their families.
The building serves as both a programming and operations space — the first floor is dedicated to gathering spaces for residents, and the second floor contains staff offices.
Residential scale.
The Clubhouse exterior design mirrors existing buildings across the Dolan Care Centers complex. Dolan Memory Care facilities are designed with a residential scope and scale in mind, lending in naturally with surrounding neighborhoods. This creates a homelike, restful atmosphere instead of the institutional feel of traditional memory care facilities. A highlight of the building’s structure is the striking timber trusses on the interior and exterior, which give the space a warm, lodge-like feel.
Spaces for social interaction.
This new facility enhances Dolan Memory Care’s innovative approach, emphasizing personalized care and engaging programming. The Clubhouse encourages social interaction between residents via parties, socials, happy hours and other events. A large kitchen provides a space for staff to prepare meals for residents. Adjacent to the kitchen is a living room with a cozy fireplace, inviting residents to linger and enjoy casual leisure activities. The spacious party and multipurpose room across the hall is a flexible space for both social events and staff meetings. Gatherings can spill out of the party room onto a large outdoor balcony with a fireplace.
